I'll Be the Judge of That

Brian Bales, the pastor of Christian Fellowship Church in Ashburn, VA, asked me if I’d be interested in doing a Sunday message this summer. I was very excited and truly honored to share part of my story with my church.
Far too often, we believe we need to “earn it” - approval, affection, attention, love, value. If I believe I have to “earn it,” then it’s all on me. ALL of it - whatever “it” is. And it seems like judging goes hand in hand with earning because if it’s all on me, then I have to be the judge of what’s good, bad, worthy, not worthy, need to try harder at, need to be better at…because how else will I “earn it”? And that translates to judging others, too, because comparing myself to others is how I know what’s good or bad, worthy, not worthy…so that I can “earn it.”
We go round and round, and it's so vicious! If you find yourself stuck in a similar cycle, I hope you find this message to be helpful.
If you’d like to talk more about your experiences with judging/judgment or beliefs you have around the idea of needing to “earn it,” send me an email or schedule some one-on-one time with me. And consider subscribing to my blog where I post lots of helpful suggestions on how you can begin (and continue) this journey of recovering your blueprint!
